BELIEVE IN YOUSELF
Do you know that Albert Einstein could not speak until he was four years old, and he could not read until he was seven. His parent and teacher were worried about his mental ability, and they taught he would be a dullard. Beethoven’s music teacher told him that as a composer he is hopeless. What if the young man believed it?
J.K. Rowling first marriage to a Portuguese television journalist ended up in a divorce after just less than one year. She then moved with her infant daughter to Scotland where she lived on welfare benefits in a department invested with mice. It’s hard to believe that in less than 10 years someone can go from surviving through government assisted living to become one of the richest people in the world. She did so by creating the harry potter teenage series, selling over 350million copies copied in 55 languages, including Latin and ancient Greek. Rowling had parlayed harry potter into a global band worth about $15billion. She is the 136th richest person in the world, and the 13th richest woman in Britain. Forbes Magazine named her the 2nd female richest entertainer in the world, and the 48 most powerful celebrity.
When Thomas Edison was young, his teacher said he was so stupid and he could never learn anything. He once said, ‘’I used to remember that I was not able to get along in school’’, he was always at the foot of his class; his father thought he was stupid, and he almost thought he was a dunce… What if the young man believed what they said about him?
When the sculptor Augustine Rodin was young, he had difficulty learning to read and write. Today we may say he had a learning disability, but his father said of him, I have an idiot for a son, and his uncle said ‘’ he is uneducated’’. What if he had listened to what they said about him? Walt Disney was once fired by a newspaper editor because he was taught to have no ideas, and he was uncreative. He later went on to create Disney Island. What if he had listened to the editor?
When Bill Gates was in school, he used to get zero, in class but his mates used to get everything, but he never doubted his product. What if he had believed he could not achieve anything in life because he used to get zero in class.
What if these people have listened and become discouraged? Where would our world be without the music of Beethoven, the art of Rodin or the ideas of Albert Einstein and Thomas Edison? A popular author once said, it’s not what you are that hurt, but what you don’t become and you had the capability of becoming that hurts.
What have they said you, that you are about to believe or you have believed already. What have you heard about yourself that has discouraged you from REACHING YOUR GREAT POTENTIALS? When you believe in all you can be, rather than all you cannot be, you would find your place on earth.
